Land Rover has announced the unveiling of an all-new Defender concept, the DC100, scheduled for the Frankfurt Motor Show. Intended as a modern take on the classic Land Rover Defender, the DC100 isn’t a production ready concept, as Land Rover has confirmed that a new Defender model won’t be launched until 2015. We don’t know much about the vehicle at present, and as Director of Design Gerry McGovern puts it, the concept represents “the beginning of a four-year journey to design a relevant Defender for the 21st century.” Judging from the preliminary image, it appears the Defender is about to undergo a thorough makeover.
Bulgarian-based tuner, Vilner (named after a Lithuanian city) recently put some heavy-duty touches to a utilitarian Land Rover Defender with some impressive results. The overall package exudes a much more luxurious outlook with contrast leather seating, in-cab entertainment systems and a sleek black paint job. Putting a Vilner-custom Defender through its paces in the wild seems a little easier said than done.
