Cadel Evans wins le Tour de France

Cadel Evans wins Le Tour de France 2011, second and third came the Schleck brothers Andy and Frank. Mark Cavendish finishes in the Green Jersey for best sprinter( also wins the last stage at Paris, his third consecutive win on Champs Elysees ), Samuel Sanchez in the Red Polka Dot Jersey for best climber, while Rolland Pierre takes the White jersey for best young rider. Best Team of the Tour Award goes to Garmin – Cervelo

After near misses in the 2007 and 2008 editions of the Tour, Evans’ triumph is a massive moment for the sport in Australia, being the first Aussie to win Le Tour. The victory makes the 34-year-old the oldest winner of the Tour in the 88 years since Henri Pelissier finished on top in 1923.

Such has been the dominance of Europeans at the Tour, that Evans is only the third champion to have come from outside the continent’s clutches

Mark Cavendish – Green jersey

Samuel Sanchez – Red Polka Dot jersey

Pierre Rolland – White jersey

Best Team – Garmin Cervelo
