“Summer rains. You can never predict them.”

Let get this straight from the start..You know when it’s raining outside, and you are under your umbrella walking along..well I’m that guy you see , wet to his under-shorts, walking without an umbrella pretending it’s not so bad :) to keep it short I wouldn’t get caught with an umbrella ever, except maybe one of these:

Polite Umbrella

This project is about an interactive umbrella that respects people’s personal space in a public area. A user can easily adjust their umbrella anytime by pulling a handle so that one can protect themselves from harsh winds or bumping into others

PILEUS: The Internet Umbrella

Pileus is an umbrella connected to the Internet to make walking in rainy days fun. Pileus has a large screen on the top surface, a built-in camera, a motion sensor, GPS, and a digital compass. The current prototype has two main functions: photo-sharing and 3D map navigation.

LightDrops Umbrella: with Rain-Powered LED Glow

The LightDrops umbrella transforms the potential energy of falling water into electrical energy by using a PDVF conductive membrane. This electrical energy then powers an array of LEDs, making the umbrella glow bright in the dark.

The Multi-Unit Superbrella

The Superbrella is made of five clear umbrellas– one on top and four in each cardinal direction. In the four corner triangles that were not covered by the umbrellas, the designer has inserted a patch with a rain-proof hole that allows for aeration.

The Senz Smart Umbrella

The senz° is designed to protect you against all weather conditions. By understanding the laws of aerodynamics we outsmarted the establishment. After 3000 years, time has come to free the world of all well known umbrella struggles and develop the umbrella of the future. The senz° umbrella has been awarded all major design awards in the world
